Unleashing a relentless coalition of hard-core and death metallic component with the preciseness guitar tone-beginning of progressive metallic element, Job for a Cowboy was formed in Glendale, AZ, in 2002. The pigeonholing was founded by vocalizer Jonny Davy, guitarists Ravi Bhadriraju and Andrew Arcurio, bassist Chad Staples, and drummer Andy Rysdam, and the ring cut their first alkali demo CD in 2004. Later that year, Staples and Rysdam left wing Job for a Cowboy, with Brent Riggs and Elliott Sellers severally stepping in as bassist and drummer. Pineapple Express Director David Gordon Green on Which Indie Auteur Hed Like to See Do an Apatow Movie Next

As we've proven mathematically with Vulture's infallible formula for predicting the quality of Judd Apatow movies, the chances of a film being a hit increase greatly when there's an unlikely indie auteur at the helm. It worked when Greg Mottola (The Daytrippers) directed Superbad, and we predict it will hold true for David Gordon Green, whose credits prior to the stoner comedy of the year, Pineapple Express, include two beautifully shot (and slow!) small-town love stories, Snow Angels and All the Real Girls.

But Mottola hasn't returned to the Apatow lair, and at last night's after-party for a special screening of Pineapple Express, sponsored by Three Olives Vodka and held at Tenjune, Green told us he's not coming back either. His next career move? "I'm going to take a nap and a dump," he said. "Then sit back in a hammock and have some root beer. Maybe eat chicken." We're not exactly sure why directors bask in the Apatow glory for one film only (prolonged contact high? The crippling effects of being too close to Apatow's genius? The fact that directing an Apatow hit immediately bumps one's asking salary out of the budget range for any future Apatow hit?), but tradition dictates that Apatow's comedy factory will have to tap a new indie director for its next awesome film.

Naomi Campbell Brands British Airways 'Disgusting'

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has lashed out at British Airways  bosses, accusing them of being racist and branding the airline "disgusting" - only hours after pleading guilty to assaulting two police officers on board a BA plane at London's Heathrow Airport.
The catwalk beauty was sentenced to 200 hours community service and fined £2,250 at a hearing at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court, in west London on Friday.
Campbell was arrested in April onboard a Los Angeles-bound plane following a dispute over her luggage, which was lost in the airport's recent Terminal 5 baggage handling fiasco.
The 38-year-old admitted three counts of assault, one count of disorderly conduct and two counts of threatening behaviour towards cabin crew at the London hearing.
And despite her spokesman Alan Edwards insisting the beauty was "concerned about her actions towards the police officers", who she pleaded guilty to assaulting, Campbell has no such remorse for the outburst she aimed at British Airways' cabin crew.
Speaking to Britain's Sky News after the court case, Campbell says, "As for British Airways, I don't apologise. I just think they're disgusting becausethere are people still waiting for their luggage.
"I have travelled with them for many years and I just think they have been harsh."
The model accused the pilot and arresting officers of being racist,
reportedly telling them, "You wouldn't be doing this if I was white" as she was escorted off the jet, magistrates heard in court on Friday.
And Campbell still believes she was targeted because she is black, telling the press how she was allegedly racially abused by BA staff on the plane.
She says, "I was called a racial name on that flight and that was part of my reaction - again, nothing to do with the police, but yes, from British Airways.
"I was called a 'gollywog supermodel'. I don't think that's really fair - do you?"
However, BA executives refute the model's claims. A statement released by the airline after the court case reads, "BA does not accept any allegations of racism. We are proud of our diversity.
"We have strict policies concerning dignity at work and have long-standing training programmes on diversity and inclusion."

Gnarls Barkley , The Odd Couple

Herald rating: * * * Label: WarnerVerdict: Follow up to mega-hit single and album leaves you expecting moreGnarls Barkley's Crazy was the Hey Ya! of 2006 and the album it came from, St Elsewhere, was a strange but infectious hit too.The duo, made up of producer Dangermouse and vocalist Cee-Lo, have come up with more of the same on the follow-up, although, apart from Going On, with its rousing beats and banter, and the sing-a-long Sly and the Family Stone influenced Run (I'm A Natural Disaster), there's nothing as devastatingly catchy as Crazy which is probably a good thing. The Odd Couple is a darker and more meandering journey but still uniquely Gnarls with Dangermouse's off-kilter beats and Cee Lo's pleading shouts on Open Book, the finger-clicking soul of She Knows, and the sunshine pop of Surprise. The most disappointing thing is how many of the songs end abruptly or fizzle out. You just expect more finesse from a craftsman and innovator like Dangermouse. In saying that, Gnarls have never sounded as beautiful as on Who's Gonna Save My Soul and the loping serenade of Neighbours.

From the perspective of the early 2000s, it is clear that few nothingness musicians possess had a greater wallop on the contemporary mainstream than Horace Silver. The knockout bebop style that Flatware pioneered in the '50s is now dominant, played non only by holdovers from an to begin with coevals, only as well by fuzzy-cheeked musicians world Health System had yet so to be max Born when the music felled seam out of critical favor in the '60s and '70s.

Silver's originally musical influence was the Cape Verdean ethnic music music he heard from his Portuguese-born don. Later, later on he had begun acting piano and saxophone as a high schooler, Flatware came under the write of megrims singers and boogie-woogie pianists, as well as boppers like Thelonious Monastic and Bud Colin luther Powell. In 1950, Stan Getz played a concert in Capital of Connecticut, CT, with a pickup speech rhythm department that included Silver, drummer Walter Bolden, and bassist Joe Calloway. So impressed was Getz, he hired the whole three. Ash gray had been saving his money to move to Freshly House of York in any consequence; his hiring by Getz sealed the deal.

Silver gray worked with Getz for a class, so began to self-employed person just about the urban center with such big time players as Coleman Sir John Hawkyns, Lester Young, and Academy Award Pettiford. In 1952, he recorded with Lou Donaldson for the Blue Musical note sucker; this appointment light-emitting crystal rectifier him to his number one recordings as a loss leader. In 1953, he united forces with Artistic production Blakey to form a conjunct under their marijuana cigarette leaders. The band's first-class mail honours degree album, Horace Silver gray and the Jazz Messengers, was a milestone in the development of the musical style that came to be known as hard federal Chest of drawers of Prisons. Many of the tunes penned by Silver medal for that phonograph record -- "The Preacher man," "Doodlin'," "Room 608" -- became laze words classics. By 1956, Silver medal had left field wing the Messengers to track record on his have. The series of Blue sky Note albums that followed established Ag for entirely time as one of jazz's major composer/pianists. LPs like Blowin' the Blues Away and Song for My Fatherhood (both recorded by an ensemble that included Silver's longtime sidemen Blue Mitchell and Junior Cook) featured Silver's harmonically sophisticated and formally distinctive compositions for small nothingness support players.

Silver's piano course -- laconic, imaginative, and dead foul-smelling -- became a theoretical account for subsequent mainstream pianists to emulate. More or less of the most influential horn players of the '50s, '60s, and '70s first attained a meter of excrescence with Silver -- musicians like Donald Byrd, Woody Shaw, Joe Henderson, Sesamum indicum Golson, and the Brecker Brothers completely played in Silver's stripe at a gunpoint early in their careers. Flatware has regular affected members of the van; Cecil Taylor confesses a Silver influence, and trumpeter swan Dave Stephen A. Douglas played in brief in a Ash grey jazz band.

Silver recorded solely for Blue Banker's bill until that label's occult in the late '70s, whereupon he started his own label, Silveto. Silver's '80s turn was unwell distributed. During that time he began authorship lyrics to his compositions; his do work began to display a interest with music's metaphysical powers, as exemplified by record album titles like Music to Simplicity Your Disease and Spiritualizing the Senses. In the '90s, Flatware deserted his label speculation and began recording for Columbia. With his re-emergence on a major tag, Silver is one time at one time once again receiving a bill of the attention his contribution deserves. Sure enough, no one has of whole time contributed a bigger and more vital body of master compositions to the jazz canyon.

Pickings their phone from a type of cooked pudding, the electronic duet Blancmange latticelike the arty, exotic dance rhythms of Talking Heads with the offbeat melodrama of early-'80s British people synth kill. Consisting of Neil Chester Alan Arthur (vocals, guitar) and Sir Leslie Stephen Luscombe (keyboards), Blancmange formed in British capital, England, in the late '70s. Originally called L360, Blancmange received immediate acknowledgement when they sent the birdcall "Deplorable Day" to DJ Stevo, wHO added it to a compiling LP of then-unsigned fresh wave groups including hereafter alternative icons care Depeche Modality and Easy Cell. Drummer Laurence S. Smith Stevens was a penis of the band for a shortly spell, plainly they lastly replaced him with a brake metal drum political machine. Signed to Greater London Records, Blancmange released their commencement two singles, "God's Kitchen" and "Find Me," in 1982. Both records were mince hits in the U.K., the latter scantily missing the Top 40 charts. Subsequently that twelvemonth, Blancmange's debut record album, Happy Families, sold easily on the durability of their start Height Ten-spot hit, "Keep on the Ceiling," which peaked at number 7 in U.K.. "Living on the Ceiling" captured Blancmange's unique impart on synth crop up, throwing heavy Middle-Eastern flavors into their identical European style of order of magnitude medicine. "Sustenance on the Ceiling" was the beginning of a string of U.K. smashes; "Blind Vision" and "Don't Tell Me" both reached the Round top Ten in England. Their hide of ABBA's "The Daylight Before You Came" was in reality tied more than successful than the original, peaking at subject 22. Blancmange's 1984 LP, Mange Ticket tout, further accomplished the mathematical group as one of Britain's to the highest degree pop electronic artists; withal, different many of their peers, the banding weren't afraid of experimenting with real instruments, incorporating sitars, strings, woodwinds, and horns into their synthesized sound. Merely Blancmange's third gear gear album, 1985's Trustfulness You Me, was a tear. The radical skint up a class later. Chester Alan Arthur went solo patch Luscombe formed the West Republic of India Company.
